#CTWW - Daily Challenge for 3/15/11

It's Day 7 of our challenges ... here's today's activity:

Reduce the number of plastic bags you use by getting a fabric or reusable bag for shopping. Although plastic bags use 70% less plastic than they did 20 years ago, most are still made from polyethylene, a non-degradable plastic. If you live near a brewery, you can obtain 15-20 gallon durable, synthetic grain bags which breweries usually throw away. These can either be used as garbage bags or rinsed out and re-used to take trash to the dump.

See you tomorrow ...

WE'RE CHANGING THE WORLD ... ONE CHALLENGE AT A TIME!

  1. I had a plastic bag-free house all nice and happy until I started renting out a room in it, and my tenant (a vegetarian, ironically) is happy to post but creates more plastic waste, including bags (even though i've offered her one of my reusable totes), that it reminds me of how far I've come. Whew.

  5. The Lovely Wife & I enjoy using our collection of cloth bags (and it doesn't hurt that most stores give us a nickel off each time we use them.)

The brewery bag idea is very interesting, and I pledge to visit a brewery this Sunday to investigate. It practically spiritual!
