Plant a tree. One tree will absorb about a ton of carbon dioxide over the course of its lifetime. Trees also provide shade that could reduce your air conditioning bill significantly. Some communities provide matching funds and expertise for public tree-planting projects. Find out if there's such a program in your state. If not, consider starting one.

A little late for tree planting now that we are in spring - best to plant right at the start of winter or right at the end. But I've definitely got plans for fruit trees in the fall when $$ is available - I've got an empty driveway with great sun, perfect for some potted trees ! www.friendsoftrees.org is our local organization...
ReplyDeleteI am doing two tree plantings this month. Once in my parents back yard and the other as an Earth Day Event at our local park.
ReplyDeleteMy son asked for an apple tree for Christmas and we got one for him. We will finally plant it this month on my parents property. It so amazing to see my 3 year old already have love for trees!
