Welcome to the very first Meet & Greet Monday!
As I was reading through the wonderful comments left by Change The World Wednesday participants, I realized that many people have green-living blogs and/or regularly post about an Eco-friendly life. Unfortunately, with our busy lives, we often don't take the time to visit each other. And that's a shame because there's a lot of great information out there. So, I'll be hosting a weekly "meet & greet". Here's how it'll work:
1. If you have a green-living blog and/or write about the environment, sustainability, etc., please use the "linky" below to list your site.
2. Visit at least one other site (and while not required, it would be nice if you told them that you found them here).
3. The linky will stay active through Thursday.
4. I will randomly choose one of the sites and feature it next week.
That's it ... doesn't it sound like fun? Okay ... start linking up and visiting:

What a fantastic idea - thanks SF. I've been feeling for some time that I'd like to share the love a little more and go and visit more sites - having them all in this one place will be enormously helpful for me. Ok, off I go on a blog hop!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I've had two visits already and one was new, so I'm off to see what's happening in their backyards.

great blogs thanks for the links! i actually just found a lesson plan i developed from change the world wednesdays! i used it as a high school teacher for "world watch wednesdays"!
ReplyDeleteTitle: World Watch Wednesdays
Materials: photos of people/things/places in the news
Class layout: students work on their own, in pairs or in groups to determine a hypothesis about the 5 W’s (who, what...)
Time: at the beginning of class, reveal one or several photos and give 5 minutes until taking final answers. To confirm or deny guesses throughout the duration of the activity may depend on how knowledgeable the students have become about world events.
Description: This is an activity that asks “who, what, where, when & why”. It can be very useful as a hook and has a high engagement level. It is important to gauge the level of difficulty according to the students’ familiarity with world events and issues. In some cases it may be appropriate to include national, province-wide or local issues or figures. Whether the students guess correctly or not this activity is a great and interactive way to incorporate discussion about social justice in world issues. It gets the students to critically think about the news, current events and daily reports that concern them and everyone. Another desired result is an increased familiarity with diversity and cultural literacy.
Ex. “Name that Leader”
Picture of Hamid Karzai - Grade 11 International Baccalaureate students could identify that he is the elected president of Afghanistan and can provide context of and discuss unstable democratic practices.
Resources:
-any credible news source online
-current issues resources at the school (such as a subscription to a newspaper or magazine)

ReplyDeleteOnce a month I do a live poetry event on LiveJournal. The February 7 session will have a theme of "wild animals." Feel free to drop by and give me ideas for Earth-friendly poetry.

ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I enjoy finding other blogs that also have the eco friendly theme. I'll be sure to check out the other blogs as well. I already follow a couple!
ReplyDeleteIf you get the time, stop by my Facebook page on Saturdays for Super Star Saturday to help pomote your blog or links!
What's SSS? Besides FREE advertisement, it's where Facebook fans and I post links to the coolest products/blogs/companies that they want to share. They can self promote, promote a friend or just add a link of something they think is awesome; all directly related to serving parents and/or kids. After all the links have been added, I post them on my blog for followers to see too! http://www.mybabysgreenblog.com/search/label/Super%20Star%20Saturday
