#CTWW - Daily Challenge for Mar. 23, 2012

Welcome to Change The World Wednesday Daily (#CTWW)! If this is your first visit, please click HERE for information and a complete list of all the challenges we've taken on so far.

Here's today's challenge:

Be conscious about water and energy use when washing dishes. There has been considerable debate on whether washing by hand or powered, automatic dishwasher is more environmentally friendly. The research suggests that the answer depends on a variety of factors, but that under most circumstances, an efficient automatic dishwasher run with a full load will probably be the greener choice. To minimize your carbon footprint, you can skip the energy-intensive drying cycle by choosing the "air-dry" option, or stop the machine once the water has drained and leave the door open overnight. For more information on the pros and cons of hand vs. machine washing, please see http://www.treehugger.com/kitchen-design/built-in-dishwashers-vs-hand-washing-which-is-greener.html.

Until tomorrow ...
